I currently work part time as a biomedical engineer for a US company. My husband is being transferred to the UK on a Tier 2 visa. As a spouse, I AM allowed to work in the UK. I am fine with paying UK takes, but I am nervous about my employers' obligations in the UK. I am working 20 hours per week or less and that has ALWAYS been my arrangement . In the US, because I am only part-time, my employers don't owe me anything- I receive no benefits whatsoever, not even PTO.
I'm concerned that if too much is required of my employer, they will just let me go. Does anyone have experience with this? Has anyone been able to work around this with their company's HR? Keep in mind I am an employee, NOT an independent contractor.
