hello and help
« on: September 19, 2004, 07:41:28 PM »
Hi everyone,
i'm a social worker, and am being recruited by a counsel in the south part of london, croydon to be exact. I haven't the faintest idea, of what thigns are like there, but sure would love to hear peoples experiences.

one of the biggest concerns is furniture. and is it worth to bring them. I have what I consider to be a very reasonable estimate to move my personal and furniture over, for about 3500 usd. I have a large pice of furniture, and entertainment armour, about 6'x4.5' and 2.5' deep.. i hear that the "flats" are much smaller then we are accustomed to here in the U.s

also, I have two dogs which will be coming with me. how hard is it to find a place to live with two dogs,

OOOH... I know that I would not want to be living right in croydon as I shall be working there, trust me it makes sence! can anyone suggest another area to live close by to it?
Please write me directly to :
destined2dive@yahoo.com
thanks,
Joe
GWM, professional, social worker, may be moving to s. london in february 05. would love to chat with other's who have made similar moves, other social workers in the U.S.  I'm a pretty simple, laid back, nice guy. Large variety of interests. Not a stereo-typically anything. spanish in origen,  shall also be bringing my two dogs

Making new friends would be very nice, as I don't know anyone in t

If you have dogs that you want to bring with you right away, make sure you get them started on the PETS scheme now or else they will have to go into quarantine.

I don't know much about Croydon but you shouldn't have any problems finding a place to live.  It may take some more time because of your dogs but if you're looking in the suburbs of London, you'll find something.  Renting in London with dogs will be more difficult.  I left my dog in CA for now but I'm thinking about bringing him back at Christmas because I miss him terribly.

Good luck and welcome..
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…
