Short Term Apt in Edinburgh

Is anyone familiar with Edinburgh? My boyfriend and I are thinking of basing ourselves in Edinburgh while we search for jobs. We're looking for a short term apartment to rent for a month or so.

I've been in touch with Factotum letting and they have a few nice looking short term apartments for 800 pounds/month. Does that seem like a reasonable amount? And is anyone familiar with this company? They have some bad reviews online, but so do all the letting agencies in Edinburgh!

Any recommendations for how to go about this would be appreciated, we're completely winging this whole re-locate to another continent thing 

What about homeaway.com? It's targeted toward short holiday lets but a month doesn't seem too far out of the purview. Or put up a housing wanted advertisement on Gumtree?
