R-r-r-ruffles have r-r-r-ridges
« on: March 03, 2012, 01:23:31 PM »
To whom it may concern...

I saw Ruffles crisps in Asda today... looked like they had 2 or 3 different flavours.
I'm not much of a crisp eater, but I don't remember seeing them here before, so thought I'd mention it for others.

Lots of American food sightings today! I saw Cookies 'n' Cream Hersheys Kisses at Tesco just now. I don't like Hershey's chocolate, but others might be interested!

Nice to know.  I'm not really a crisp eater either, but now and again I find myself missing Ruffles.  Thanks!

They aren't my favorite, but if you can find or make good onion dip they are more than tolerable! I'd have bought them there just to do that! ;)
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Yeah, that's exactly how I liked them on the rare occasion I bought them too. :)

Doesn't Tesco do crisps with ridges? I'm sure I've had them. What's the difference between those and Ruffles?

I know Walkers does a new crisp with ridges but Dh & I both think they are really greasy in our opinions though. ;)  :) whenever we go home both Dh & I love Ruffles so that's why we tried Walkers Ridges thinking it would be like Ruffles man we were wrong. Well in our opinion Ruffles aren't greasy like Walkers are we needed a napkin after Walkers cause there that greasy. ;)  :) Don't get me wrong the Walkers tastes nice you just need a napkin afterwards or a wetwipe for your hands.

I always found US Ruffles to be far too salty. So ... salt vs grease? Which is worse?  ;)

The walkers ones just leave me..meh.  Not like the Ruffles I remember.  Will have to check mysupermarket.com for them as we do our shopping online only.

I was right - Tesco does do a version of crisps with ridges. But it turns out that Kettle does one as well. Has anyone tried either of those?

ASDA has Hershey's Cookies 'n' Cream bars, or at least when I went for my usual food shop this week.

They also had Ruffles as Tracey mentioned.  :)

I've had the Kettle Ridge crisps--the cheese and onion ones remind me of Ruffles cheddar and sour cream, which were the only potato crisps I really liked in the US.  McCoys also does ridged crisps.  The Kettle ones are very, very crunchy, but they have a nice flavour and aren't too greasy.

The salt and pepper kettle ridges chips are DIVINE.  I really wish that I hadn't clicked this thread because now I have a craving.  :P

I prefer ruffles as theyre thicker cut than a traditional potato chip, but thinner cut than a traditional thick cut/ridges chip. They are also greasy and salty, which makes a perfect chip IMO.
