Church wedding and Dress?

So my fiance' has decided he wants to do a church wedding. I know there's a 12 week rule. He brought it up so he's meeting with a Vicar (thats what he called them i think?) within the next week or 2.
How does a CoE wedding work? I was raised catholic so I'm clueless....Any info or advice is appreciated!

Also...How hard are prom style dresses to come by? I want to have a blue wedding dress. Not sure if i'm better off finding one in the states and have it packed in a box by the cleaners, or if I have a better chance at looking Brides maid style dresses in the UK. I saw tons of beautiful white dresses out there but not many blue ones.

My wedding dress is blue!  

It's not a prom dress or a bridesmaid dress though. I bought a short Ralph Lauren sheath dress with capped sleeves in royal blue from Lord & Taylor a few weeks before I moved to the UK.

Not very. Do some searches of Debenhams, John Lewis, House of Fraser, etc to get an idea. A dress bought in the states will probably be cheaper though, but you'll have to deal with bringing it over.

As for the dress....Is there a way to like box pack it in a shirt box kinda thing? Do US cleaners do this?  I just need it flattened for the plane ride. there's a place that does alternations down the road from my future flat.

Cleaners do pack up formal wear - but the box can be quite massive depending on the type of dress. You should probably stop by one and ask them what the box size will be depending on the dress so you'll have a better idea. Another option might be bringing it on the plane in a wardrobe bag as an extra piece of luggage.

Cost-wise, you may be better getting one in the US.  From what I was told, they can be quite a bit more expensive in the UK.  The lady I got my wedding dress from even said some British tourist girls bought their prom dresses there to bring back to the UK because of the cost difference.

I guess it's a matter of how you plan to bring it to the UK, which will depend on how packable or poofy it is.    I've transported a bridesmaid dress via plane before with no issues.
