Anyone live in the Quayside neighborhood of Newcastle?
« on: March 30, 2012, 09:25:29 PM »
We are moving to Newcastle in June, and we are trying to figure out what neighborhood would best suit our family.  From the research I have done, I like the Quayside, but I wanted to hear from someone who lives there what their thoughts were.
We have 2 young daughters (using a stroller to get around) and would be without a car once we move.  How is the pedestrian access to grocery stores, retail districts, primary schools, libraries, parks, trains, etc...  Online it all looks convenient, but what is it like to really live there?

Hi Ksizz, I am moving to Newcastle in July.  I don't know much about the different areas, but my husband is from there so I can ask him.  How old are your girls?  We have 4 year old triplets, two boys and a girl.

The Quayside is on the riverside, it's a very steep walk into the city centre which has everything, I wouldn't fancy pushing a stroller up there every day though.  As far as I know it's mainly apartments down that way too.

Yes that would be hard with a stroller.  We had dinner on the Quayside when we were there for our honeymoon back in 05, somewhat remember it.  Good luck finding something!  Some days I wish we still had the stroller.   :)
