I work in London and though I have a decent salary (I think I deserve more, but than again who doesn't), the cost of living is a killer.  I pay more than £300 per week for rent and utilities for a 1 BR flat.   OUCH!!!!

OMG I thought our £200 p/w was bad!(but that is not inlcuding any utlities or council tax)  i would expect a jacuzzi in the bathroom for £300!!

For 300 a week we get a funky smell that we can't identify.....a terrible land lady....but, at least our flat is super cute.

But it's a total rip off......unless I get this job i'm lusting after then both Dave and I would be walking to work!  Who needs a gym!!!!!!

What is the name of the show on Home and Living Channel?   Oh, yeah, it's "Location, Location, Location".  I am paying £300 pw because of where my flat is located.

where is it, next door to the Queen?  :) (we are a couple of streets away from Tony Blair's house - the one where he lived before he was PM).

Flipping heck. That's more than what we pay in a month! Get yourself up here love.  :)

Yeah, for £75 a week we get a two bedroom semi-detached house with a large garden here in the North.  Add on about £70 or so a week for various expenses (utilities, groceries), and it leaves quite a bit extra from the paycheck to play with.  :)  Get yourself up here to the North!  :D

I left teaching and my salary plummeted by 50%. but I do like my new library job. DH is a remote sensing analyst for a GIS (geographic information systems) firm, makes just a tad bit more than I do, but he loves his work, too. So, apart from the fact we'll NEVER get on the property ladder, we are poor but happy. :)
