Looks like they show American sports, too! I'll have to check this place out! :)

Though, am I crazy? I love, love, love Pizza Express! lol It's probably because we have very few GOOD pizza places here in GA.

Pretty crazy, especially if you're in London. Although taste card + 2 for 1 make it okay. I've never had anything but a bad experience in Pizza Express, I feel like their base is really bland/not cooked high enough temp and the service is always atrociously slow. Chain wise, I think zizzi's rustica is a better pizza.

I'm a really big fan of Franco Manca, although nothing beats Santa Maria in Ealing for me :)

Contrary to the hive mind, I really like Pizza East as well.

I've never been to zizzi's. I'll put it on the list to try! DH actually makes homemade pizza that's pretty good, so we don't go out for it too often.

Thanks for the new recommendations!  I'll have to try Brooklyn Bite / Mulberry Street next time I've got a hankering for NY-style pizza.

However, about a month and a half ago I accidentally stumbled upon Franco Manca's in Chiswick.  OMG, LOVE IT!!!! Seriously--the best pizza I've ever had.  The dough/crust is so full of sourdoughy yumminess, and ahhh so good! We've gone at least once/week since I discovered it!  (Waaayyy better than Santa Maria's, in my opinion!)

Yes, you are crazy. Although, you will be in luck because if you give them your email address, you'll get so many offers you'll never pay full price at Pizza Express again.

I agree with CB - Zizzi's rustica pizzas are much better!

Are we comparing apples and oranges though? From my understanding New York pizza is supposed to be like this big wedge of greasy goodness - I think the natives fold it over or something.

Yes - Zizzi or Pizza Express is certainly NOT NY-style pizza by any stretch of the imagination.

Not at all. Still good, but not the same animal.

NY pizza has a requisite amount of orange grease on it, and yes, it gets folded over!

I love the ICCo pizza.  My husband hates it, but humors me.  Its not super crispy thin crust (which I love) but it is still nice wnd thin, so it is close enough to make me happy.  I only wish it was closer to my flat so I could do takeaway.  I love all of the doughy, more gourmet-y pizzas, too -- like Franco Manca, but sometimes I just miss a "plain old pizza".  And ICCo fits that bill.

 ;D

ICCo is my favourite! It's not NY pizza but it's the closest thing to a NY pizzeria in London. I like atmosphere and the pizza is decent for the price -- it is a cheap meal out.

But why the fold? I can't understand the fold...

WAWA!!!!   ;D I grew up in SE PA, so we miss Wawa SO much.  And snapple.  I really miss plain old snapple iced tea.  Every once in a while I get lemonade, but it gives me horrific heartburn, but I suffer through just to have a snapple (usually humming the old snapple song).  Every once in a while I'll have a Lipton lemon tea, and then I remember why I miss snapple so much.

And, yeah, ICCo is definitely not best ever kinda pizza.  But tasty enough in a pinch.

Oh for WAWA! DW is rather miffed that we'll miss out on Wawa this year has her dad has been moved up to Vermont so he's closer to family....so we aren't visiting Wawa country this year!
I'm not usually one for iced tea but I do like Wawa's diet iced green tea.

But why the fold? I can't understand the fold...

So you can get as much into your pie-hole as possible in one go! Well, that, and the slices are generally the size of sails, so it's just easier to eat it folded and there's less chance of getting stuff all over your face. Plus, sometimes a slice can be a little floppy at the pointy end from the size/amount of cheese/amount of grease, so the fold is a good way to keep it supported and under control without having to use two hands.

That said, I've never been a folder. It it has a tendency to push all the cheese into the middle, and I like a nice even distribution for each bite.
