Where to buy Team USA gear for Olympics in the UK?
« on: April 30, 2012, 05:35:34 AM »
Hi All -

I got tickets to watch the Water Polo at the Olympic Village this coming Friday.  It's one of the pre-olympic test events and the US are playing in it.  I'd like to wear a Team USA top but have scoured the web on UK sites as well as went to some shops in Oxford street and all I can find is Team GB (I wouldn't expect anything less!)

The event is this Friday so either need to expedite shipping or go there in person but does anyone know any shops which carry Team USA sweatshirts or tops?

Thanks in advance

I couldn't find much, but I did find this T-shirt.

Other than that, you might just have to forget Team USA and just look for something that says USA. Zazzle has quite a few T-shirts and sweatshirts with the American flag on them.

You could always make your own with a plain t-shirt and a paint or fabric pen from hobby craft!  Thanks for the reminder to look for something similar when I go home to visit this weekend - we have tickets for basketball this fall.  Of course, the US head bball coach is also the coach of Duke, our most hated rivals so we were thinking of wearing UNC gear, of which we have plenty!

Have fun!

You'd think someone would see a money making opportunity and sell Team Bunchacountries. There will be a lot of people who decide once they get here they want something representing their country. It would be a gold mine for shops in London.

The thought occured to me because during the 2006 World Cup, I was able to buy England shirts in Indiana. Someone thought to have shirts from the countries most likely to have immigrants in the area, and sold several options of shirts right along with the USA ones.

I like the ideas of anything with USA, American Flag or creating your own. I know it isn't exactly what you are wanting, but if you can't locate it, you can still show team pride.

Knowing how tightly the Olympics controls the marketing of Olympic merchanidse, my guess is there are only a few manufacturers licensed to make official Team Whatevercountry Olympic™ stuff.

Good point.  ;D I wasn't thinking of it that way, but it is true.

If you go to Amazon.co.uk and query for USA Flag under the clothing option there are some great (and some not so great) options!

Now that we're a bit closer to the games - has anyone seen any sources for this? We're going to a diving event beginning of August and are sorely lacking in US gear!

Hi

Another option for those *really* wanting to wear Team USA clothing is to purchase in the USA and have it delivered here. Yes, you may need to wait a while and pay the posting charges, but you'll get the clothing you want.

Cheers, DtM! West London & Slough UK!

Ebay has a few vintage options.
