Cincinnati Chilli recipe?
« on: May 14, 2012, 09:18:04 AM »
Hi All

Just a quick question - my husband's from Cincinnati and since we went on a trip there over Christmas I have been looking for a recipe for Cincinnati chilli (Gold Star rather than Skyline for preference). Normally I'd look online myself for a recipe like this but having had a few disasters with online Cincinatti Chilli recipes where I thought I'd found the right spice mix, only for it to turn out tasting completely wrong  :( I thought I'd ask if any posters here had any ideas/tips?

I know that you can get the powdered sachets (a friend of mine was kind enough to give me a couple) which, having tried them, work pretty well (thanks if you're reading this and know who you are ;D) - however shipping them over does seem a bit of an expensive way to go about things if I can lay claim to a recipe which works using spices I can get in the local supermarket - anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks a million in advance!

Can't comment, as I personally would never put chili over spaghetti, but to each their own!

A poster after my own heart!  ;D  I can't stand chilli with spaghetti myself, but definitely developed a weakness for Cincinnati chilli coneys whilst in Ohio!  Thanks for the links - much appreciated!

Just use the packet seasonings from the shop, they work fine.  At least as far as I'm concerned, they do. Its what I grew up on.  Some beef, seasoning packet, beans and onions, pour over spaghetti, and there ya go.

Hope that helps.
