Girls (or Tiny Furniture)
« on: May 16, 2012, 09:46:29 AM »
Is anyone else watching the Lena Dunham EP/writer/lead HBO show Girls (or her earlier 2010 film Tiny Furniture?

Do you think it is zeitgeisty right? Do you watch it alone, with friends, or with a partner (if you have one)?

I'm watching it (alone). I'm 24, so I'm just about the age of the girls on the show and I definitely think there are elements of truth, but obviously it's exaggerated for comedy. My girlfriends in America (same age) also watch and appreciate the humor.

I'm watching it and it's actually kind of uncomfortably true to life (in New York) sometimes. I think Jessa and Shoshanna are a little bit of caricatures but a lot of Hannah and Marnie ring true. As does Adam.

I started watching it because it was on HBO and i was bored. :) Also, the folks over at Slate started dissecting it every week and I always enjoy their running commentary on TV shows (Mad Men, Friday Night Lights, etc).
