Glasgow Meet - 26th July (Thursday)
« on: June 06, 2012, 11:42:02 AM »
Just wanted to get this up there as a topic heading.....

Why not come along to a wee informal Glasgow gathering of Scottish-based UKY folk on Thursday, 26th July from about 7pm.

The venue is The Pot Still (on Hope St, between W Regent St and W George St). Check it out on Trip Advisor.

No need to book anything, so its really just a matter of coming along if you can make it. It'd be great to put some faces to usernames!

Hope to see a few of you at The Pot Still next Thursday!

They've been adding to their range of whiskies these past few months (over 400 now), and every 2 weeks sees the "on-tap" ales change to a different (mainly local) brewer's wares. I'll drop in a note with what's on tap next week in the hope that it might entice you along.

If you do decide to pop in to say hi, I'll be the guy wearing the Univ of Michigan rugby jersey (maize and blue....what else?)

Thanks for that!

Next weeks ales will be a selection from the following brewers: Strathaven, Ayr, Kelburn, and Highland.  There are usually 2 ales on tap and a change is made every time a barrel runs out.

Today, the choice is Strathaven Claverhouse Red Ale and Kelburn Cart Noir.

I'll be hoping for Highland Orkney Blast, or Kelburn Jaguar!  :)

Kelburn Jaguar was debuted in the Pot. An excellent ale. You obviously have good taste, Tracey!

Hi, all. I signed up for these forums and never really participated, but Glenn sent me a message to let me know this was happening, and I'll be sure to stop by! I'd love to meet some fellow American beer and whisky snobs.  Cheers!

I just know what I like and what I don't like!

Although I am friendly with the brewer, I am not a huge fan of Kelburn beers... I like Jaguar, Kracker, and Cart Blanche, but the rest... not really.

Had some Jaguar last night in the Society Rooms... tasted very old and tired.  Disappointing.  :(

Todays ales in The Pot Still:
Ayr Doctor Hornbook blonde stout
Highland Brewing Co. Pale Ale
Strathaven Old Mortality

It'll likely be all change by Thursday!

Looking forward to seeing what's on tomorrow.
(although it would probably be best for my performance at work on Friday if there's nothing on that I like!)  ;)

It was terrific to meet up with Tracey, and Dee and Bryan tonight.

Several beers - and a few damn fine whiskies - were consumed, and the requisite memories and reminiscences were exchanged.

Looks like a follow up is planned for October at the Bon Accord (Charing Cross, Glasgow).

Couldn't make this get together? Don't miss the next enstallment. Good people, good beer... great combination!!

Glenn

Not to worry. I think we're going to sort out another evening some time in Oct/Nov.

Hope you can make it then!

Coming to Glasgow in end of August.  Any idea when the next meet-up will be?
