« on: June 15, 2012, 11:58:13 PM »
Hi everyone, i sent my provisional application for my drivers license,  with my passport on monday, i sent it next day delivery and they received it on tuesday. But today ( friday) i called to get an update and they said theres nothing on their systems yet!. Ive heard a few people here say they received their passports back in a few days, but including the day they received it, its been 4 days and apparently theres nothing on their systems?? Should i be concerned about this?? I just really want my passport back

Application for what, where do you live, and where did you send your passport?

I wouldn't be concerned; it's been less than a week.

No need to worry just yet - they probably just haven't got around to opening the application/putting it in the system yet... they may well have a lot of other applications to deal with at the same time.

The direct.gov.uk website states that they aim to deliver the licence to you within 3 weeks of receiving your application and that they aim to return your ID documents within 2 weeks after that.

From the website (http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/motoring/driverlicensing/needaneworupdatedlicence/dg_10012514):

Quote
When to expect your licence

DVLA aims to deliver your driving licence to you within three weeks of receiving your application. It will take longer if your health or personal details have to be checked.

Return of your identity documents

DVLA will return your licence and identity documents separately, it cannot guarantee to return your identity documents by a set date. If you would like your identity documents returned by special delivery, include a stamped self-addressed special delivery envelope with your application. Keep a note of the serial number.

If you do not get your identity documents back within two weeks of receiving your photocard licence, phone DVLA Customer Enquiries on 0300 790 6801.

So you potentially have up to another month to wait to receive your passport back.

Worrying over!
Incase anyone who wants to apply is curious how it works:

I sent next day delivery to swansea on 11 June (Monday) I also sent a pre-paid next day delivery envelope with it for my passport to be returned in.
I phoned up 18 June (Monday) to get an update, and they said my provisional was completed that day and will be sent out the following day. They said my passport will be sent out a couple days after that. And today 21 June I received both my passport and provisional on the same day. So it took about 10 days.

Thanks for everyones help!
