Baby takes off his clothes
« on: September 29, 2004, 05:18:57 PM »
Okay, little man is turning into quite the smart ars*.

Any time he doesn't want to take a nap or go down for the night, he takes off all his clothes, including his diaper.  I can't keep running back to his room to check on him because he will never fall asleep.  So what in the world can I do to keep clothes and a diaper on this boy?  I'm so tired for changing sheets full of wee!

BTW, I've tried all manner of clothing: normal clothes, jammies with zips, jammies with snaps, etc.  No matter what, that boy can get out of them.

HELP!

ROFLMAO!!

Umm, velcro? Shrink wrap?  ;D

Hmmm... thinking... not getting anywhere... leave him nekked on a wee-proof sheet?  :P
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

I just thought of something: backwards won't work on his jammies.  They have feet!

Cut the heels out.

OR, cut the feet off and re-sew them on backwards.  You don't have to do a great job, nobody's going to see.

I worked for a family who had one of these exhibitionist/nudists in training once.  We ended up using duck tape on the diaper to keep at least that on.  A big strip of it all the way around.  Sure we had to almost cut the thing off her in the morning, but we didn't have wet sheets anymore!  :)

You'll be glad to know she grew out of this phase fairly quickly...only lasted a month or so.  She still wouldn't wear clothes but she kept her diaper on after awhile.  And we potty trained her really early because of her need for nakedness.  She was using the toilet by 2.

There you go-cut the feet off the jammies and duct-tape them back on!   ;D

How old is he, that you can still find footie jammies for him?  They seem to stop making them here at about 12 months-maybe it's just FL but I cannot find them to save my life for dd.

Duct tape isn't a bad idea either!  We are starting to potty train, but not in earnest.  It's more getting him used to the idea.  He's 20 months old and for the last two months we have been getting him to use the potty before his bath and when he gets up from naps.  He's taken to it, in that he doesn't complain and even fetches the potty before his bath and tries to flush the toilet when he's done.  Sadly, he's yet to actually tinkle it, despite the warm water trick!

SAF, we bought the jammies with feet last year.  They were for two year olds so he's almost out of them.  (HINT, HINT Sara).

ALL my sons have gone through this phase. Its very frustrating but there is a solution. Go to Mothercare and buy some "Nappy pins" and pin his jammies together. The pins are very safe because they lock. My son was in two piece pjs so I started off pinning them together one on each side but then he still got out of them so I actually had to pin one on each side and one in the front and one in the back. The only thing wrong with this is it will put tiny holes in the pjs so dont do it if you dont want the pjs ruined. I just had to do it because we were changing sheets, clothes and bathing baby after each nap. So frustrating!Good luck!

Thanks for the advice everyone!   There's loads of possible solutions and we'll put them to work today.

SUCCESS!

The diaper stayed on!  The clothes didn't, but at least the diaper did.  We tried Wishstar's little trick of duct tape, but substituted electrical tape instead (he has those Pampers Active fit and duct tape might have been a bit too big).  One quick wrap around of tape -- making sure to cover the tabs -- and the wee one couldn't get it off.  I'm so pleased!

We bought some of the diaper pins from Mothercare, but I have to say I was a bit disappointed with them.  Perhaps I'm giving little man too much credit, but it was fairly easy to undo the lock.  Who knows ... I probably got a duff bunch.  :-\\\\
