Massachusetts voters, please help!
« on: September 30, 2012, 10:01:46 PM »
So, fellow Massholes, how do I vote?

I've gone to the following page, and have tried to get my ballot, and I get a message that the Massachusetts ballot is not available and I should use a write in ballot.  Has anyone else gotten this?

http://www.fvap.gov/

I'm probably doing it wrong.  :)  How do you do it?

(if my message is what everyone else is getting, I can't find a list of candidates to manually write in for MA yet, is it hiding somewhere?)

TIA!

That's strange, I did it through that website earlier in the year?

(Sorry, that's not really much help  :-\\\\ )

Okay, maybe I'm selecting the wrong things then.

1.  I select:  For United States citizens who are living outside the U.S. for work, school or other reasons.

2.  Select my state

3.  Get my ballot now ? ? ? ? ? ?

I was registered to vote in MA before I left, so I didn't think I had to choose that option.  Or now that I've moved, I have to re-register?

Oh, I think I actually did the 'Register to Vote and/or Request Ballot' step, rather than the 'Get my Ballot' -

That's because my 'request for an absentee ballot expired' in January 2012 and the town clerk had emailed me to say if I wanted to vote again I had to re-register. So I did.

It may be worth contacting your jurisdiction if you can't get it? That's their job and they should be able to help you navigate the system.

My town clerk was so helpful.  Though it was quite easy for me because I grew up in a small town and everyone knows my parents, so its like homecoming when I email/phone. But your mileage may vary.

My town clerk emailed me my ballot and sent it via post - so I can either email/fax my vote back or send it back via the post.

If you can stomach the cost and call them, do it asap. I found out last week that California un-registered me to vote because when I moved to the UK I put my brother's address in PA as a forwarding address for mail. I didn't really think that through.

I was told that I had until October 22nd. It's the 17th in MA.

This site should help you with contact info:
