Gamemaker swooping into London
« on: October 09, 2012, 07:37:54 PM »
Hello from a new face.

My name is David, and after lurking on the site for a while, reading advice about work visas (done!), banking, housing, and other things, I've at last made my way to merry England. Formerly of SF, Boston, Seattle, Chicago, DC, Atlanta, and New Haven, now I find myself living in the London suburbs while I work on video games, my career and passion for almost twenty years.

Thanks for all of the advice you've all offered - even if you didn't know it was me reading it.

Hi David,

Welcome to UKY! Glad you found it to be a useful resource in the planning stages of your adventure, and I certainly hope you enjoy your time here! :)

How long do you think you'll be staying in the UK/London?

Welcome and congrats on your move!
Hope everything has gone smoothly for you and continues to do so.
I'm near Seattle, so just had to shout out, since you said you're from Seattle, amongst other places. :)
9/11/2012 Husband mailed his US citizenship application.
9/17/2012 Received e-mail stating his application has been entered into the system.
9/22/2012 Hubby received letter with date for finger printing.
10/12/12 Hubby went for finger printing.
10/26/12 Dh got a letter stating when he should appear for his interview and test- 11/27/12- just a month away!!!
11/27/12 We went to dh's interview and test- he passed and we went back 4 hours later for the Oath Ceremony! 95 people from 38 countries, really pretty cool!
So he's now a US citizen!!

New Haven - my sister in law lived there and we stayed there for a week after we got married. Lovely place.

Welcome! My husband is a games industry veteran (motion capture seems to have moved on without him, alas). If it's not too nosy, where are you working over here?

Yes, thanks for the information posted here.

As far as your query, I don't have an exact answer. Indefinitely, I suppose. No real closing date, so as long as the job and I get along.

Loved living in Seattle and working for WotC back in the day.

The weather seems very familiar.

It is nosy, but I don't mind. After all, they are making a press release for it, so it's no secret. I'm working for a studio named Lionhead.

MoCap is an interesting business, with or without keyframed animation to support it.

Welcome! I've heard great things about Lionhead so really hope you enjoy it. My husband is a character artist in the video games industry and though he's over a decade ahead of me, I'm slowly learning some modelling. ;D
