In this month's Psychologies magazine there is an article by her on this story.  It didn't go into any of the visa stuff so I wondered if she went over legally or not...I don't think she did as in the article she says she went over and worked in the shop for a month before returning the second time.

It's also a bit odd as she kept saying (in the article as well as the video clip) that she 'missed the bookshop owner' but never said they were engaged or romantically involved, but I had a feeling they were involved as she also said how he was young and good looking.

Just saying I thought the whole thing a bit odd.  The article was about following your visions and dreams etc which I whole heartedly agree with, but don't think it was all on the up and up if you know what I mean.

Oooh.... that's interesting!

Did it say when she moved over?  Laws were different many years ago as well...

I'll have to re-read it, but I don't think it was many years ago as she said she was 25.  She doesn't look much older than that in the video.....

She seems to be doing the rounds, with slightly different stories too:

In the last one, this bit is interesting:
'Fox became so integrated – and integral – to life in Wigtown that when she was later refused re-entry into the UK on a visa technicality – a legal row that’s not yet resolved – the locals rallied, sending messages of support to her back in Boston, and to the authorities here.'

Hmm, could that 'technicality' be that she was trying to live here without the proper visas? :P
Arrived as student 9/2003; Renewed student visa 9/2006; Applied for HSMP approval 1/2008; HSMP approved 3/2008; Tier 1 General FLR received 4/2008; FLR(M) Unmarried partner approved (in-person) 27/8/2009; ILR granted at in-person PEO appointment 1/8/2011; Applied for citizenship at Edinburgh NCS 31/10/2011; Citizenship approval received 4/2/2012
FINALLY A CITIZEN! 29/2/2012

Wow!  Yeah, I think that's the 'technicality'.

I mean, the Psychologies article did say she was working in the bookshop for a month on her first visit.

Because, you know, a 'spiritual connection' is all you need in order to move here...  ;) :P
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in...

I'm really into the spiritual stuff, and I was in danger of doing something naughty, but stopped myself as I didn't want to jeopardize my track record or chances of coming back.  So the spiritual part can be a real driving force, but you've got to make sure you dot your i's and cross your t's properly as well.

It gives people a false hope (or BAD impressions, depending) when they read articles like that.
At least in the BBC clip she talked about visas, but if she was working illegally, then that's crap.  Because it just makes it so much harder for everyone needing to jump through the legal hoops!!
