Get married in the UK, but live in the US
« on: March 27, 2013, 02:13:42 AM »
I am a USC and I met my girlfriend, who is a UKC, while working on a cruise ship. We have been dating for 3 years now and are starting to think about marriage.

Our plan is to get married in the UK, apply for a CR1 visa, play the waiting game, and then ultimately live in the US.

My question is: What is required for me to come to the UK just to be married? It would be a short term visit with no intention of staying or living in the UK.

You need a visitor visa for marriage. It allows you to marry in the UK without wanting to live there.
