Pre School Activity Sheets

Does anyone know of a place online where you can download free activity sheets for pre schoolers? In particular I'm looking for aids in teaching kids numbers and letters aimed at 3 year olds.

Do you mean for children that have just turned three or children who are in Nursery year and not yet four?  Numeral recognition, letter sounds and letter names are generally covered in the Nursery year and into Reception.  The Early Years Foundation Stage stresses learning through play for under fives, not worksheets.  In my experience working with 2-4 year olds it would be better to sing number songs, point out numerals in the environment (on buses, houses etc.) and show children their name by labeling their drawings etc. (making sure to refer to the letters by their sounds rather than names). For example, my Jean is in reception and they are just starting letter names so she now knows her name is spelled Jay Eee Ay En rather than the way she initially learned it - Juh Eh Ah Nuh.

Cheers. Yes, I mean something like coloring sheets where we can point out numbers and letters.  Nothing serious, just something fun but educational as well.

My daughter loved a video from leapfrog that taught her the alphabet.  She learned all the letter and their sounds very easily from that.  I didn't like the number one though--it was useless.  I also have several fun games on my phone that she plays with and can trace numbers or do phonics.

My little one has used mostly play in nursery, but in this last term of nursery, she's starting reading skills.  She has a series of books she's working with that start with pictures and characters and gradually add language (Oxford Reading Tree).  They also have a series of books the school has had us use called "Finger Phonics" () which traces the letters and goes over sounds. 

My daughter has known her letters for a while (although she's struggled with the lower case), but after working in these for a week or so, she has started recognizing a couple names in print (without the pictures) from the first picture books--she can do Mum, Dad, and, Kipper, Chip, Floppy, and Biff so far. It's fun watching her learn, so there is reading being taught, even in preschool.

The video we had was called "The Letter Factory." I'm not sure if there's a UK version that says Zed instead of Z and such--I've noticed many of the toys that my sister has are exactly the same as mine, but with American accents where mine have British accents and say "zed." The video was great for my girls, but a friend brought it from home.
