Anyone have an extra Driving Theory Test book?
« on: April 13, 2013, 05:51:11 PM »
I'm finally getting around to studying for the Driving Theory Test.   ;D

I have the Highway Code and Know Your Signs, but I'm looking for the Theory Test book.  If anyone has a spare book (preferably a recent book and with the Hazard Perception DVD), I'd love to borrow it!  If you're in London, I can meet up with you for a coffee to tea.  :)

I know I can buy it at any bookstore or online, but DH and I decided to spend a week searching for someone to borrow it from before we buy it.  :)

Thanks!

I don't have the book, but I have the DVDs and PC CD-Rom Questions (which I found to be extremely useful)! If you are interested, PM me and we can arrange to meet up!

I'm scheduled to take the test this Saturday & panicking that I am woefully unprepared. I've read the highway code, almost done with the signs book. I don't have the hazard test DVD or the "essentials" book. How much deep dootie am I in here?

I've done some of the practice hazard tests & those have me really worried as I tend to over-click. Going to practice more this week.

What am I missing out on by not having the "essentials" book?

Am I freaking out over nothing? Or am I right to be worried?

I don't have time to reschedule - I figure, if I fail, at least I'll know what to expect & I'll retake. But I need to get this done as my US license is only good until this August and I need to move on to the actual DRIVING stuff!!

Sorry to hijack your thread TravelingFrog!

When did you take your test OldHarpy? Was it recent? Can you give me any advice? I'm hoping that I'm over-worrying and this will be like taking my Life in the UK test (which was a lot of "do you comprehend English" kind of stuff mixed w/ history)

Um, I found it quite hard, don't know if it's because I'm stupid. How good at memorising things are you? If you've read the book, get the test ap for your smart phone and do all the questions, I ONLY did this and was fine.

The Hazard perception test is the one I'd recommend you do on the DVD, it's actually easier than the DVD but needs to be answered in a specific way, lots of people click too early etc.

You'll probably be fine, read up about the hazards test if nothing else because it found it a bit odd.

I took the Theory Test in September 2012. Like cheesebiscuit, I did not find the test that easy. I bought the computer CD with all of the practice questions and took practice tests constantly. Any questions I didn't know I would write down and go over these again and again. After a while it was like memorization. I passed the test with high scores, but that was after studying for a couple of weeks.

I would recommend taking as many practice tests as you can, as well as practice hazard tests. I think the trick with the hazards is to click whenever there is a potential hazard, whether it is a pedestrian on the side of the road or a warning sign.

Not sure how helpful I am being, but good luck on the test!
