Hiiiiiiii *waves*
« on: April 21, 2013, 08:19:03 AM »
My husband and I are moving with our two small dogs to the UK this summer.

I can use any and all advice!

I have been reading the "What to Bring" "What Not to Bring" forums which have been quite enlightening.

I could use information on moving expenses (extra baggage or moving company?), moving the dogs (cost and best method?) and advice on where to live in London (Hubby wants to be no more than a 45 minute commute from UCL near the British Museum).

Thanks in advance!

Caroline

Welcome to the forum!

Unfortunately I don't have a lot of advice to give - I moved to the UK with two suitcases and my cats, which is probably not the ideal situation for most. ;)

I used PetRelocation.com to move my furbabies and would swear by them time and time again. It is very expensive, however, so I would definitely not recommend using a relocation company to move your dogs if you're trying to keep your costs down as the whole process really can be DIY.

Sorry I'm not of more use. Again, welcome to UKY and good luck!

When it comes to moving pets, there's a sticky thread with some up-to-date discussion starting here: http://talk.uk-yankee.com/index.php?topic=78528.msg1071507#msg1071507

I did everything myself for moving two cats, and it went fine, even if it was a hassle. But it's manageable, and I wouldn't have shelled out double or whatever (it was already over $1500) to have someone else do it. Maybe a few hundred extra, but no more than that.
