Young Married Couple - Where to move?

Hey everyone!

We currently live in the Bedfordshire area but we're planning on moving early next year. We want to stay around the surrounding counties (Northamptonshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, etc) because of where I work (although I don't mind changing if something better comes).

We are going to be buying but I was wondering if we could get out a mortgage? I got my Spouse Visa earlier this year but wasn't sure if I would be allowed to get one since I am not a permanent resident.

Also any help on good locations would be really helpful!

Some things to know:

- I work in Luton so at most no more than an hours journey to get to work.
- No kids but we do have a crazy dog.
- We don't drink or do the party scene so it's not important to have that around us.
- Parks, nature, outdoors, walking! We would love to be in a location where we could be surrounded by this.
- Needs to be in a location where we can get Hight Fibre Optic Broadband.
- We go to Milton Keynes for the shopping and cinema, so we'd like to be near there or any other place that has a Cineworld (Unlimited holders!)
- Our budget is no more than 190,000 and we're looking for a detached house.

Yes, I do! Just got it a few months ago actually. Worth the wait!

My fiancé and I live in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire. About an hour or less to Luton, Lee Valley Regional Park at our doorstep, home prices reasonable, few pubs/no crazy party scene, Cineworld in Enfield (5-10 min drive), great transport links to London (and opposite), fibre optic capable.... You should take a look :-)

Have you checked out Harpenden? It's beautiful with great outdoor space but also incredibly close to work for you. My boyfriend used to work in Dunstable and we lived in Harpenden, we loved it there (I've been kicking myself since we left). Although I'm not sure what you'll be able to get on your budget - Harpenden is a bit pricey. You could also try St Albans. And both are a reasonable drive to MK.
