We didn't need the home visit. The "cat lady" couldn't make it last week as her son was ill and we said we'd go down to see the cats (in Derby so a 1 hr drive) and also she was originally unwilling to do a home visit so far away and DW said we'd cover her petrol.
So when we went and spent 2 hours there and she saw us with the cats she was happy to go ahead. She said she'd spoken the previous evening with the other women who does the rescues and said that we obviously wanted the cats if we were coming down to see them, and that we would take good care of them. The home visit, she said, was more to see what we were like rather than seeing what the house was like. She said that some people are getting rescue cats as "bait" for fighting dogs! That's also while they have an adoption fee.
She's going to get the kittens vaccinated and microchipped - it was £20 adoption fee each without the vaccine or £40 each with and when I checked a few vets they were quoting £40 for the vaccines etc.
So we can pick them up in about 4 weeks but as we are going to Wales for a week we've arranged to make it 6 weeks and we'll pick the cats up on the way home!
Names - DW liked the original names of Millie and Mazie, I wanted to change to Native American names. So compromise, one is called Millie and the other is Kasa (Native American name meaning "dressed in furs" - I thought that was very apt!)
