Teaching in the UK
« on: June 04, 2013, 09:46:44 PM »
Hey guys,

I've seen this sort of topic posted before, but I haven't been able to find a recent one. I will be completing the Masters of Education program at the University of Minnesota next summer (BA in History). I'd love to teach in London. Last summer, I visited London for a few weeks while studying in Denmark and absolutely fell in love. I've started doing research and what I've seen so far is that I pretty much have a zero chance of getting a visa and a job. I was wondering if this is true? Seeing that a BA in History and a Masters of Education is fairly specialized (as in can't really be applied in other fields) is there any other type of job that i could get besides teaching?

Also, could anybody who has moved from the US to the UK to teach give me any pointers/advice? If anybody could tell me how their experience went/is going would be great!

Do you have eligibility for citizenship of an EU / EEA country? Are you also a Commonwealth citizen? Would you consider a PhD in the UK? Investigate Teacher exchange programmes, like http://www.iie.org/en/Programs/Fulbright-Teacher-Exchange-Program?
