That is a really interesting article -- as a citizen of both the US and the UK, I sometimes fear I am doomed to a life of always missing the one I am not currently in. I very much agree with the section of the article that discusses how the web can exacerbate homesickness -- for me, it is an open window into a parallel life and it is so tempting to want to climb through. I also find that homesickness goes away when things are going well in the country where you are living, but it can flare up when something goes wrong.

I know this is going to sound stupid, but I felt more homesick for NW1 (previously) and NW6 when I was back in the States, than I feel homesick for the States now that I'm here. (It does help, having my own friends here, working two jobs, and bringing the cats along.) Remind me I said this in a few weeks, when the full psychological force of homesickness will likely actually hit. ;)
