I'm Back! Applying for Visa ASAP
« on: June 27, 2013, 03:20:19 PM »
Hi Guys,

It's been a while since my last post.  My English husband and I (USC) currently live in Georgia but we want to go back to the UK asap.  I'm familiar with the new rules and don't see any problems.  Hes made over 18600 GBP within the last 12 months with the same US employer and is still employed.  We are going to stay with his parents and they are going to provide us with a job offer from their family business.  I do have some questions though and I am hoping you guys can help!

Has someone put a guide together of all the documents needed?  I've looked at individual checklists from different people but they always differ slightly.... I guess I'm worried about missing something.

Does anyone have an example of a job offer? My husband will be working for his father at the family owned record shop. The record shop has only been in business for 2 years and I'm a little concerned that a job offer from a family member is going to raise a red flag. I should mention that my husband worked for another family owned business (auto garage) for 6 years previous to moving to the US. The shop was owned by my husbands grandfather and ran by his dad... so they have a previous working history if that helps.

Should that be mentioned at all... or should proof of that working relationship be submitted?

The other issue is that my in laws are just using their own funds to manage the shop. They aren't really taking a wage themselves and they use their personal funds for a lot of expenses. Does the UKBA ever request proof of employer funds?

Thanks!

I haven't come across such a guide.
I think that reason that the lists that you have seen differ is because the circumstances of one couple will rarely be the same as another. Also may be why there's no definitive list.

All the information is on the UKBA website but the difficulty (as you have found)  is that it is not all together but these are some of the more relevant pages.

What I would suggest is for you to post your own list for people to comment on.
I think that you might get more replies that way. ;)
