Irritated, and now bracing myself for the non-stop media bombardment to come.

My thoughts exactly :P When I found out about her pregnancy, I messaged my British friends and said, "so I hear British media is good for news for the next year :P "

I'm pregnant. It resonates on that level, I'm rooting for an easy birth for her, but otherwise I'm not into the whole royal-following thing.

I do have several friends who demanded texts the minute I heard, so my duty has been discharged and now I'm back to work.

I love the Queen's cousin, Margaret Rhodes, and her response to the birth.  :P

Quote
So as Queen Elizabeth awaits the birth of her great-grandchild and the next heir to the throne, one would expect Rhodes to be unbearably excited, right?

“Not terribly,” she told CNN’s Christiane Amanpour on Monday, exploding with laughter. “Well, you know, everybody has babies, and it’s lovely. I don’t get wildly excited about it.”

She's really got quite the cackle.  :P  Probably the best (and most honest) coverage of the birth.  :)

I'm happy for the royal family (and any family with a new addition), but really, I don't need a play-by-play of anyone's birth.  :P

Royalist here, but not really into babies or pregnancy. Still, it's exciting that this small creature will one day be king or queen. Now that they've sorted out all the primogeniture stuff, I'm convinced it'll be a boy after all.

I'm curious to see if it's a boy or girl, but I do wish they were allowed some level of privacy during this time.  I feel bad that they have to give the media a play-by-play to try to keep the chaos down.

I do like the royals but I am tired of every lead article on US publications analyzing every little teeny tiny thing about Will and Kate.

It always kind of amuses me that so many people in the US are royal mad!

Last week when I spoke to my mom her opening was "any baby news"?  I was like, "ummm, no I'm not pregnant... but you'll be sure to know when I am."  She was like, "No, the ROYAL baby."  <sigh>

I am currently 19 wks pregnant and our move to the UK will happen in a few weeks. I am excited for Kate and Will, but  feel sad that the poor woman can't labor in peace. I can't imagine world media outside my house/hospital while in labor. Let her be!

In other related news, I am excited that since this baby will be born in the UK, we will have some great "royal baby" british memorabilia to commemorate OUR little one :)

Completely non-plussed

This sums it up
http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2013/07/22/royal-baby-bbc-news_n_3634395.html?utm_hp_ref=uk

I'll just keep the news off for a while...so much speculation, all we needed was to be told she'd gone to hospital to have the baby and that should be it until said baby is born!

On Andrew Marr Show yesterday, Kate Adie reviewing the newspapers and there wa san article about how it's being reported in the US and she said an American editor friend of her's had said that leave had been cancelled because of it and when she asked why he responded, because it's (the Royals) the only UK news we cover.
Not sure if that's strictly true but it does rather sum up the insular attitude to international news in the US.
When we were over there recently for FiL's funeral someone said to me, "Are you excited about the baby?" and I seriously had to ask "What baby?"

In actual fact that isn't all sorted yet!

Some Commonwealth countries haven't ratified which could mean if this is a girl, that a future son is actually head of state for some countries, whilst the Queen of UK is head of state for others!
