My cat is lost
« on: July 24, 2013, 03:30:46 PM »
Hi. My family and I arrived in the UK on 14th July. Our cat and dog arrived on he 18th and we all moved into our house on the 19th. Since it has been so hot, we had the windows opened but quickly realized that without screens our cat, Chubbs, had an easy escape route. So we were keeping the windows open just a crack during the day and closing them at night so Chubbs couldn't climb out. My son went downstairs late Monday night and opened a window and sure enough, Chubbs jumped out.  :(

We have ben looking all over our neighborhood for him, have posted flyers, notified local vets, Cats Protection and have talked to everyone we see and have knocked on doors.  I feel sick about this. Chubbs is very much an indoor boy, having no front claws. I know there is nothing any of you can do, but just wanted share my grief. I am so worried we'll never see him again or know what happens to him. And I feel guilty for bringing him here, otherwise this wouldn't have happened.   :(

I'm so sorry. I can imagine how you feel. I truly hope that Chubbs will find his way home to you.

Have you notified your microchip provider to put an alert on Chubbs?  If anyone takes him to a vet/shelter they'll scan him and see that he has a home and is loved.

Big hugs to you.  One of my cats got out not long after moving here and it was AWFUL.  He was found safe and sound though and now knows his boundaries when the doors and windows are open.

Hope you find Chubbs soon...have you tried Facebook? We have a local town page and people are always posting up pets lost and found.

Aww bless...  :-\\\\ I know that feeling having had one of my cats go missing after having got out of the house (she was an indoor cat). It sounds like you are doing all you can do and it's early days yet, Chubbs will hopefully be close by hiding.

I'm not sure if you have seen this site which is good for advertising lost and found puds. They also have a Facebook page.  http://www.animalsearchuk.co.uk/

And I have seen pets found via the powers of Facebook. Hope Chubbs will be home looking for food soon!

Thanks, everyone. We still haven't found him, but we're not giving up just yet. I have called the Missing Pets Search Team and am awaiting a return call from them.

Everything is exacerbated by the fact that we have no home phone yet or internet at hom. I have to try to do thins at work, when I am expected to be working, or my daughter and husband go to the library to use the computer.

I really hope we find him.

Don't loose hope ..
My moggie who is 14 now got lost in one of the worst winters we've had here in years two winters ago..I had put up posters, notified SSPCA, my local shelters etc, local vets. etc..
He was missing for 9 nights, 10 days.. and those were the worst 10 days.. He turned up very thin, no injuries so im assuming he got shut in somewhere. Never did find out where he was for that time.
Needless to say I was over the moon he had returned.
So keep the faith.. especially since you are new to your area it is likely he has just gotten a bit lost.
Keeping you and Chubbs in my thoughts.. I've been there .. x
Kay

A few years ago one of my cats disappeared for 2 months! Came back one day meowing when coming through the cat flap as though she'd only been out for a few hours!
She looked fine though the diarrhoah suggested otherwise but that was sorted out with a few visits to the vet.

Still no Chubbs.  :( We did hire  Animal Search UK's Missing Pets Search Team. They found a few people who had seen him last Tuesday, but nothing since. They beleive he is hiding quite nearby and just need to feel more confidentin oder to come out of hiding. I sure hope the are right.

The also put up laminated, colorful posters all over the area and talked to lots of people, therby increasing awareness about Chubbs. W've also passed out tons of leaflets and will continue to do so. I just can't give up trying to find my boy.

Thanks everyone for your care and concern. This whole thing has cast a pall over our move to the UK. It's really unfortunate.
