Hotspot Shield
« on: August 11, 2013, 04:56:35 PM »
How exactly does it work?  I'm going to be going to Azerbaijan for a few months, and I'd like to be able to watch BBC iPlayer, etc, whilst I'm gone.  If I install this, will I be able to access media on British websites like that?

Hotspot Shield is only for accessing American content.  I did some quick googling for accessing Uk content and found this- http://expat-shield.en.softonic.com/
I've never tried it, so can't comment on it

Yes, if you want to access US TV and websites, you use Hotspot Shield and if you want to watch UK TV and websites, you need Expat Shield.

I used Expat Shield to watch BBC iplayer when I was visiting the US, and it was fine, although it's been a couple of years since I last used it.

TunnelBear works really well for watching UK stuff, like iPlayer. However, there is a small monthly fee, but I found it worthwhile when I was using it and it's easy enough to cancel.

ETA: I mention it only because I always had trouble with Hotspot/Expat Shield, so in case you need a plan B!
