Rise in Net Migration

It is difficult to speak adequately, or justly, of London. It is not a pleasant place; it is not agreeable, or easy, or exempt from reproach. It is only magnificent... the biggest aggregation of human life, the most complete compendium in the world.

Until I leave the UK, I don't read anything having to do with UK immigration. I was just telling hubby how hostile this country feels towards anyone who isn't British by birth. We went camping with friends over the weekend and all I heard was immigrants this and immigrants that. While chicklet and I sat there looking at each other. When I finally said something I got the "oh well, you're different, I don't mean you" thing. But, what they don't get is, they're feeding this whole anti-immigrants thing...and sooner or later, it will affect people just like me.

Well, according to the article, it already has:
'The largest fall was in family visas issued to US citizens to join British husbands or wives, down by 46% to 1,242.'

Official statisticians said the increase was a result of fewer people leaving the country to live abroad rather than any rise in the level of immigration.

So immigration has decreased...that means they should increase their emigration efforts ;D

09/29/09--Visa Approved!
10/05/09--Leave for the UK!!!
06/15/12--Back in the US indefinitely...

Yes. I'm not saying we should automatically do it but isn't it time we explored bringing back transportation?

Like, as in, since everyone in England is so superior to your average eastern European, we'll take away your citizenship but give you a free! one-way ticket to Albania. It'll be like baby Superman going from Krypton to Earth. They'll treat you like a god. Seriously, you'll be able to fly and stuff.

I'm seeing Karl Pilkington in the dramatisation of this.

Anyone else besides me wonder about how coincidental the timing of the release of this information was?

So, this is pretty much the best comment I've ever read on this site. :p
