Struggling to find uniforme blouses for my daughter
« on: September 03, 2013, 11:16:05 AM »
I am having a very tough time finding white blouses that fit my daughter. She is 13 years old and 6 ft tall. We have tried the largest size the shops offer - size 42 - but nothing fits right. The problem is in the shoulders and sleeves - they are too tight and short. She has very broad shoulders. I have tried to find equivalents in tall or even plus sizes, but can't seem to find a short sleeved white blouse that fits the bill for complying with school uniform requirements. So tomorrow, my poor girl will be going to her first day of UK school wearing a blouse that is uncomfortable.

My quest does continue, though. Does anyone have any ideas of where I could maybe find something that will fit her?

Have you tried looking on Amazon?  We only order from Amazon directly (rather than through another seller on Amazon) and we've been able to return things easily if we needed to.  :)  We've never bought clothes off Amazon, but I imagine it's the same.

If you found a top that worked, you could go back and order more.  :)

What are her school blouse requirements?
We've got a whole thread dedicated to finding plus sized clothing, so maybe something in the thread may help?

Have you tried looking at adults' uniform/workwear sites?  Http://www.alexandra.co.uk/ is one, but there are others.  And this one seems to go up to a women's 26 (a U.S. women's 28) in some of it's basic blouses.

You might also want to check Land's End UK.  They do carry some plus-sized clothing (not the full range they do in the U.S.), and their stuff is usually cut quite comfortably.  It's a decent place to look for basics like shirts and trousers, and even though it's pricey, the quality is very good.

Land's End UK didn't have what I am looking for. She isn't fat, just tall and broad shouldered. If I get plus sizes she will fit in the shoulders but be too big everywhere else. I even had her try on her brother's shirt, but it was way too big! I just can't seem to find a short sleeved white shirt that buttons to the neck. I will look at the uniform shop link. thanks for the input, everyone.

Can you get something altered to fit her?

Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering

That's how the light gets in...

The men's department might be your only choice at this point to get one for Wednesday?
Otherwise, finding one that fits one way or the other and getting it altered to fit properly would be good when you have the time  :)
My nieces are all very tall and thin and broad shouldered too and their mom is always struggling to find clothes that fit them properly in the shoulders and sleeves and length  :P

The poor thing  :(. This is our local place, I just looked and they do have up to a size 46 in a white short sleeve button collar blouse.
