American Television Shows
« on: September 12, 2013, 08:40:06 AM »
Anyone have any suggestions on how to watch American TV shows on the internet? I was told that there was a way to do so, but I am not figuring out how to do it. If i go to  the sites it says that the content is not available for my area.
Thanx!

We have a sling box. You have to have someone in the States buy it and hook it up to their box (directtv or cable) and then they can record shows for you or you can watch live TV. Then you sign onto Slingbox.com and watch from your computer. We also bought Apple TV and we can watch what is on our computer (sling box) on the TV. Hope this helps.

I use bittorrent and download all of the American shows I want to watch. Yes, I know that violates the letter of the law, but it is an option.

I use Project Free TV. It's one of those dodgy websites with links to other places that actually host the videos. They have all the popular shows (Dexter, Breaking Bad, The BBT, Walking Dead, etc) and then some. I'm a bit of a Chopped freak, for instance, and I'm able to watch it there. Hope that helps.

You can try using a proxy server/VPN to access the US TV websites... the reason they won't let you watch the shows online is because you don't have a US-based IP address, so if you route your IP address through a proxy server, it can appear as though you are in the US. I've had luck with Hotspot Shield before.

I used Tunnel Bear and it worked well. There's a small monthly subscription fee.

US Netflix subscription, US Amazon Prime subscription , proxy server, youtube, or just searching on the internet to find the show - you'll have to click through quite a few links to watch your show, but it can be done.

http://www.ustvnow.com/

Only problem is...if you take the free version, you can only watch it live, which isn't great since most of the shows are on after midnight here  ;D
I used it last year to watch Patriots games that were on Sunday afternoons.

We use UK netflix with a US proxy on our PS3 (when they change the codes, just search through YouTube or DigitalSpy, people will have work arounds for it)

If you have Sky, SkyAtlantic has a lot of HBO stuff within weeks (or days for some shows) of it airing in the US

TunnelBear works well with Hulu and other sites (CBS, ComedyCentral) and lets you view more than just US shows. To try it out, you can get up to 1.5 gigs free via twitter.

If your patient, a lot of US shows start up in January and they air them straight through with no breaks, usually ending within a few weeks of the US broadcast.

tvtorrents is a good site, all the US shows are on there.

If you want to stream instead, there is a plugin for chrome called Hola Unblocker, costs nothing but allows you to stream from CBS/NBC etc.
