Returning East Yorkshire ex-pat

Hi everyone,

I'm a British ex-pat, been living in NYC for 7+ yrs with my American wife. Thinking of moving back to my homeland (Hull area) for various reasons. The wife is much more optimistic about the whole idea than I am, so I guess I'm skimming through this forum to get ideas/inspiration/advice about the whole thing.

My main issue is probably the current British spousal immigration rules (which require the British citizen to ALREADY have a job - or a firm offer thereof - in the UK before the their US spouse can legally reside in the country), which kind of leaves ex-pats like me in a kind of exile. I'll post on the relevant thread/sub-forum for advice on that issue.

Welcome to the forum I've been offline for a bit, but I am another wife of an East Yorkshireman [Driffield] eagerly anticipating a move to the UK. We already have two kiddos, so we are anxious to get over soon, although budget-wise it's looking like two years.  My advice about the job is to always be keeping the feelers out there.  My husband is offered contract positions all the time, but he wants to take a full time job.  He keeps the resumes and job site profiles up to date, though.
