Wait times
« on: January 08, 2014, 09:02:26 PM »
If anyone has had surgery, how long was it between your pre surgery assessment and the actual operation?  I got my assessment letter today, and the appointment is in a few weeks.  DH is trying to arrange some time off to look after me when I come home, but needs to give his employer as much notice as possible.  Anyone know if the surgery will be a week after the assessment?  Two or three?  A month or more?

It was two weeks for my husband, but that was after one cancelled, one scheduled and a last minute rescheduled surgery appointment!

Your surgeon may be able to give you a general idea about when they will be able to fit you in.

It may well depend on the type of surgery.

It may help to call the consultant's secretary as she/he should have some idea of the timeframe. This will depend on a number of factors but at least they should know the consultant's surgery timetable.
