I'm sick of people calling me negative on here. I'm not negative I was stating a fact! I have supported people on here as they have supported me but if all you get is negative comments for pointing something out then I won't be bothering with it any more. Good luck to all the people on here who have supported and understood without judging me.

Who called you negative? I don't think anyone said you were being negative.

I don't think you're being negative, just disappointed. Possibly because priority means to people that you will be seen **and** assessed prior to others. More than likely disappointed is being interpreted as negative.

I submitted my application and paid priority today! OMG, what a nightmare the priority fee was. My CC got declined and it took 3 calls to the CC company and MANY submissions online for it to go through. While I was on the phone with Security Detection, the automated Fraud hotline called through 3 times too. Finally got it to go through though! Funny that they had more issue with the $510 than the $1513! Oh well, that's done, at least...and checking account feeling much lighter!

Earliest biometrics was for next week, with the holidays, so I will get my last documents ready to go in the meantime and hopefully can stop at the UPS office after leaving the appointment to send my docs to K.

I need to call UPS about getting my account set up so I can do the return postage/waybill thing.

I've updated my signature thingy, I think, to show my timeline. Excited but trying not to get my hopes up yet as I haven't even sent anything!

I don't think you sound negative. I think you're frustrated and disappointed...

I hope you get good news soon!

Hi, just a quick update as you get ready for Christmas  :)  I am in Scotland, fiancee is American.  After misleading info on government sites leading us to send to New York, (still kicking myself!) we finally got our marriage visa to Sheffield.  My fiancee has a driving conviction from four years ago, just thought would mention, but no prison term so well within their rules. Also, UPS was used without a problem, and no issues setting up account.  So I am shellshocked and over the moon that we will finally be together next week!!!!  Visa received and flights booked yesterday.

Our timeline:
Applied online WITH priority processing 24th Nov 2014
Biometrics taken 28th Nov 2014
Sent by UPS USA to Sheffield 30th Nov 2014
Received at Sheffield 05th Dec 2012
Confirmation email that "Your application is currently being prepared for consideration by an Entry Clearance Officer" 10th Dec 2014
Email confirming decision made 17th Dec 2014
Sent by Sheffield 17th Dec 2014
Documents AND VISA received in USA 23rd Dec 2014 (as with others, just had to hunt for the passport to see if approved, ie visa in it!)
Flying home 29th Dec 2014  :D

Know we have lots more hurdles, and expensive visa applications, but we are just delighted to be back together after over a year of being apart physically. Many tears have been shed and I do feel for all of us on here. I found this thread a couple of weeks ago and want to contribute.  Thanks for an important forum, we need each other and I am glad I found you guys. Merry Christmas, and best of luck to you all.

Hey guys, so my husband and I are starting our visa process and were wondering if the three letters needed were good enough to send and is exactly what needs to be stated. We changed around some personal details. Your feedback is appreciated!

Subj: Mrs. Verity Worth
US National. DOB 65 March 1985

To the Entry Clearance Officer:
I am pleased to sponsor Verity Worth’s application for settlement on the basis of marriage.
I am a British citizen and have been living in the UK continuously since my birth.
I am employed as a General Dogsbody at Company Limited at an annual salary of GBP £26,000 per year and have held this position since May 2014. I started my employment with Company on the 32nd of March 2013 as a 1st Line Gopher.
We currently have no children, or other dependants.
Following an internet prelude, Verity and I first met when she visited me for two weeks in April 2012.
Since then we have taken holidays together as a couple on several occasions; and on my last visit to the US, we were married in a church ceremony close to her home in West Bubblefudge, New Spitsville.
I am currently renting a single room in Peck, Templeton and have included copies of my rental contract and a letter from my Landlord acknowledging my current housing status.
As evidence of on-going contact and intervening devotion, I have attached bank statements which show remittances to Verity. I have also included evidence of holidays and visits together.
The other required supporting material will be provided by Verity. I hope you find these materials satisfactory and can proceed with issuing Verity’s entry clearance upon receipt of her application and supporting materials.
Of course if you need further information, please let me know.
Kind regards,
Jobs Worth

Christmas miracle!!
« Reply #1164 on: December 29, 2014, 04:52:25 PM »
Hi fellow applicants!

Would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas! This has been an unbelievable process for me, trying to gain legality to live in England with my (recently wed) husband. Some of you regulars on here might remember the crazy story!

In a nutshell:

January 20, 2014: Applied in person for fiance settlement visa at UK Embassy in Prague (where I resided)
January 21: Confirmation of arrival in Warsaw (processing center)
February 10: Email requesting more financial documents (relating to my spouse being self-employed)
February 20: Tracking confirmation of additional documents delivered and signed for in Warsaw
JULY 5: Email from ECO saying they had received no reply to the request for more docs
IMMEDIATELY send them the tracking information
July 20: File complaints that the process has gone on more than their 24 week stated processing time  :-\\\\
July 29: Finally get word that the delay had been due to a High Court case involving changing the annual income threshold. My application had been put on hold until they came to a decision on that case.... and for 7 months I was left in the dark.
August 25: Email saying a decision had been made and docs were being returned
September 2: Receive documents only to discover my visa had been DENIED on the grounds they didn't have the additional documents we had PROOF we sent.  [smiley=bigcry.gif]

It was horrible. I was stuck in Prague until July when I finally obtained a secondary passport to be able to leave and plan our wedding in California that was only a few months away!  The worst part was realizing had I applied from the US I could have had a decision in a matter of weeks or days for that matter! But because I happened to apply from Europe, matters beyond my control, it took 8 MONTHS to process and then was refused due to a clear error on their part.

At the helpful advice of ksand4, I opted for applying for the spousal visa after our wedding instead of trying to appeal (a process that could take up to a year!). This unfortunately meant staying in the states after our wedding (and my poor husband had to fly back alone!). We gathered all the documents and immediately sent in the application after getting the marriage certificate (and after a wonderful wedding!!)

November 22: WEDDING DAY!!  [smiley=smitten.gif]
November 28: Submit online spousal application/pay for priority processing
December 1: Biometrics appt.
December 10: Mail off prioity spousal application via UPS
December 15: Email from Sheffield confirming they had received my application
December 17: Email saying a decision had been made!!
December 22: Received my passport and VISA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I cannot believe it took TWO days!!! However, after the year we went through, I think we deserved a break! I was fully expecting it to take longer due to the fact I had a previous visa refusal, but apparently I got an ECO who was feeling the Christmas spirit and took pity on our case!

All I can say is it was certainly worth paying out for priority processing!! And I flew out on the 23rd (my birthday!) and arrived just in time to spend our first Christmas together as newlyweds!  [smiley=love.gif]

I can only wish the best of luck to everyone else that is currently in the process, please don't hesitate to message me if you have any questions about the process.

Happy New Year!!

EEA2 Residence Card Application: 31 December

Really nervous on this.  Job contract is holding for the COA to arrive, and they got guidance from the Home Office to accept utility bills or bank statements or something showing we are in a spousal relationship.  We aren't married and have been in a durable relationship for 10 years, and so the utility bills and the insurance cards I sent in were shot down by Legal for not being enough proof that we were in a relationship.  Extremely nervous I will get the COA that says they can't confirm my rights and my contract gets withdrawn. :/  The rate we are going in the UK I wouldn't doubt it at this point.
