How detailed do I have to be when filling out Form C3?
« on: August 01, 2014, 07:38:03 PM »
I am shipping a bunch of stuff in a big cardboard box, including clothes hangers, shoes, clothes, etc. Do I literally have to give a really detailed list of all the things inside the box? - like, 15 hangers, 20 pieces of clothing, etc?

Thanks!

We shipped a 40' container 3 years ago. My list was generic for each of the numbers boxes (around 150 of them).

The list started with the header "Personal and household effects" - then box by box, each numbered, with descriptions like "Assorted clothes"; "assorted kitchen utensils"; "assorted bed linens/bath towels"l "dishes wrapped with towels"; "assorted clothes packed with paper towels and toilet rolls".

Customs had no issued with that. They are more interested in booze and any new stuff. And of course if they x-ray and see that the box of candy looks like.....something other than candy.....
