Does anyone know how long ILR applications are taking?
« on: October 12, 2014, 06:26:25 PM »
Hi Everyone-

I applied for my ILR visa in July. Does anyone know how long the processing times are running now?

The Settlement Checking Service said about 6 months. I have tried to check the Home Office page but the only thing I can find is if you applied outside of the UK. I applied within the UK.

Someone gave me a thread on the forum but it was way back in February, 2014. Anything more current would be appreciated!

Just wondering!

Thanks for the most awaited answer!

Current processing times are about 4-5 months.

People are just receiving their ILR now after applying in May/June time.

Yes, definitely taking longer than expected. I have a couple of acquaintances who applied back in May; one got hers just 2 weeks ago, the other one still hasn't received hers yet.

Does that mean you're "illegal" in the mean time?
Because you can't even apply until like 60 days before your visa expires, right?  :-[

You can apply 28 days before you qualify for ILR, which is usually 28 days before your visa expires (but can be different depending on what visa you have).

No, you aren't illegal - your current visa status is simply extended while the ILR application is processing.

The only way you would become illegal is if your visa had expired before you applied for ILR, or if your ILR was refused... in which case you would only have a certain number of days to either apply for a different visa or leave the UK.

Thanks everyone for the information. Hopefully, I will get mine before the first of the year.
