Hi Everyone-

I am having a hard time finding pumpkin pie filling. I live near Nottingham in the East Midlands.

Does anyone know where I can buy it off the shelf at a grocery and where in the grocery is it located? Also, do they call it pie filling or something else?

I've been trying to find French Fried Onions and just found out they are called either crispy salad onions or onion salad crispies here.

Thanks very much!!!

I've always found it easily at Whole Foods. Sometimes at Waitrose, but Whole Foods is a safer bet. It's usually in an odd place and I have to ask for help (and the odd looks they give me). I found it helps to look it up online on my phone so they know what I'm looking for.

Last week I asked for help finding corn syrup. The guy was so confused until I showed him a picture - he though I was asking for Quorn syrup. I've veg, but yuck - I have no idea what he thought it would be. ::)

A pic could help you, especially if it's on the store's own website. Also the brand - Libby's is the brand of pumpkin pie filling I've found here.

Honestly, I don't think I've ever actually seen pumpkin pie filling in the UK... and I've lived here my whole life.

However, just did a Google search and as well as Waitrose and Whole Foods, it looks like Tesco stocks it too:

Thanks for the help. I am sorry but I don't live near a Whole Foods but I will call Waitrose.

I was ordering it online with Tesco but after spending a lot of time ordering other items, they didn't have most of the items I was ordering. They could tell you at the beginning of your order that it was out of stock.

Thanks.

Are there an American stores near you? Most of the ones I've seen tend to stock it. There's also the option of buying a whole pumpkin and making your own pumpkin purée.

I live in a small town so no American stores near me. My husband and I discussed buying the pumpkin and making it from scratch (a lot of trouble though) but felt like this was our only option.

I did find Libby's Pumpkin Pie Filling but it was 25 miles away from us. After diesel and the price of the pie filling, it wasn't going to be worth it.

Thanks anyway for the suggestions.

The Tesco nearest us which is classified a Superstore doesn't even have an American food section.....bummer!

By the way, where exactly did you find it in the aisle area....cake decorations, etc.

Thanks!

My tesco doesn't have a US section, but a big one about 15 miles away does.  I found it literally in the USA section.  Just a jumble of American products.

I know most Waitrose stores carry it but I've heard it can be in strange locations.  I've never managed to find it myself.

Ocado stocks Libby's Pumpkin Puree.  Do they deliver to your area?

Tescos and Waitrose both have Libby's online.  Waitrose has it in stock (or so the employee said) but were out of it over Halloween.  Perhaps do a delivery or a Click and Collect next time?  Good luck!  All this hunting has made me crave pumpkin baked goods!

I'm assuming you're looking for the 100% puree and not the actual pumpkin pie mix?

I've seen the tins of pumpkin, but never the mix

If you make your own, don't use the jack o' lantern pumpkins, which are bred for size, not taste.    Any number of winter squashes can be made to make a heavenly pie, just make sure you get all the water out or you will have a soggy bottom  :D
