So is there many Americans around here? I live in a village near St Neots/Biggleswade/Sandy

Give us 6-8 months and maybe.   Currently in Boston MA, but Cambridge UK is one of our possible destinations for a move next June.  I used to live in Cambridge UK (I'm a brit, wifey is US) : the countryside around there is a bit uninspiring, but the city has a lot going on.

My husband and I are from St Neots (Im american, he's english)

I spent my last 3 years in St Neots! We had a kid and moved to the village my wife grew up in.

That's pretty awesome (: I'm sure we will stay in town
We both can't imagine living in a smaller village than St Neots and don't like the busier big cities lol

St Neots is not a village! Far too big! Haha

Haha i know it's considered a "town"
I meant it as in I wouldn't want to live in a village or anything at all smaller than St. Neots (not including St Neots as a village)

I found St Neots far too big!

Well I guess, me coming from Texas makes it seem tiny in my opinion, although I have been through smaller villages since being here, it's just all tiny in my opinion haha

The only thing that bothers me about St. Neots is that they have that car park in the middle of the town square. It could be such a lovely open grassy area , with the monument and all, but instead, it's a car park.

I've never been to St. Neots, but a quick look at Wiki tells me it has a population of 40,000. That's hardly a village... more like a small city (though it's classed as a town) !

A village is usually just a collection of a few houses, perhaps a shop if you're lucky, maybe with a post office inside it too. There's probably a church and maybe a school if there are enough kids for one although often there will just be one school shared by a few different villages. I guess most villages would only have maybe 100-200 people living in them.

I grew up in a fairly large town of 15,000 people, 15 miles from a good-sized city (450,000 people)... When I drive the 30 minutes from my town into the city, I pass through about 8 villages on the way .

I'm in Hitchin (Herts), though in the Cambridge area quite a bit (my company's HQ is in Royston).

I've been in the UK almost 2 years now (starting in Broughty Ferry / Dundee Scotland area, and then moving to Hitchin in July 2014). My hubby has just finished the process of transferring to his company's UK operations and getting a work visa. He'll be joining me here this week.

I'd love to meet up with other Americans, since this is his first experience living abroad, and I think it would help him to adjust more quickly hearing other's experiences. He's a native Bostonian, and I'm originally from Minnsota.
