Hello from Florida to Suffolk (9 years late!)

Hi everyone,

I have occasionally posted on here (but mostly just lurked) since moving to Suffolk 9 years ago to be with my British husband.

I am originally from SW Florida then lived in CT and NYC for a while before moving to the Ipswich area in 2005. 

I really love living here and my husband and I have a 2 year old little boy who is our world, but I have always found it hard without being able to connect with other Americans. Does anyone else feel like an outsider at times? I was hoping that feeling would go away eventually.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hi and hopefully I can chat with some people on here and even meet up with anyone living in the Ipswich area - if there are any of you out there.

Hi there! I am also a USC (Seattle originally) married to a UKC who also moved to Suffolk, 5.5 years ago for me We lived in Ipswich for years, but just recently Stowmarket 2 years ago so that is where we are now. And I also have a toddler, a 1.5 year old little girl!

I also agree it is hard to make friends here sometimes, as people sometimes are a bit more standoffish and a bit less overtly friendly than I am used to but I have managed to make a few through toddler groups etc.

But I am always looking for new friends in the area, and another American would be great to talk to! So I'll send you a PM with my email address and maybe we can chat a bit and maybe arrange a meet up sometime if that goes well?

Nice to hear from you. One of my closest friends lives in Seattle and I went to her wedding a couple years back...I love it there!

Stowmarket is really close to Ipswich - how exciting!! Thanks for the PM I will email you
