American in the UK and I haven't filed in the US since 2008, on account of I couldn't figure out what I needed to do, on account of I am thick. My income is incredibly low (less than £6K a year) and simple, and I resented the idea of forking out for a tax preparer when I don't have much money and I'm not going to owe anything.
I'm up to date with HMRC, just not Uncle Sam.
Tonight, I emailed a firm with my questions and got a form letter back, which was pretty off-putting. It certainly didn't encourage me to spend hundreds with them.
So, does anybody know a good individual tax preparer with UK/US knowledge? It would be great to have a real human being I could ask questions. I'm on the south coast, but I don't suppose it needs to be anyone local.
