I just hope that more people will ignore the fatalism of the argument that we are beyond repair. We are not beyond repair. We are never beyond repair. - AOC

The strangest thing about the immigration "problem" in this country is that the big numbers are coming from the EU, which no one can legally do much about. So politicians respond by tightening up on non EU immigration, which is already about as tight as it can reasonably get. After moving here, it's become blatantly obvious that the British public as a whole are massive ill informed about immigration. Everyone I have spoken to about how difficult it is to get here even as a spouse has been absolutely shocked.

That's been my experience as well.  If the subject comes up, most people seem to be rather embarrassed that I should have been given such a tough time moving here.
