In one of life's unexpected twists, I'm being courted by a company in Switzerland. The company is entirely based there, but I would work remotely from the UK, maybe flying to Zurich a few times a year for big meetings.
I'm wondering: What are the tax implications? Because I'd be working in the UK for a Swiss company, would I end up paying Swiss taxes, then self-assessing and getting a tax credit in the UK (i.e. not having to pay the UK below a certain threshold, as with UK income/US taxes)? Would there be US tax implications? Would it be best to work as a contractor, and just self-assess here? (I already freelance on the side, so am familiar with doing self-assessment on top of PAYE.)
I know it's a longshot, but thought there might be a chance someone here has experience of a similar situation. Any information pointing me in the right direction (before I throw myself into a Google K-hole) so I can figure it out myself would be great. Being flown out for the interview near month's end, so I have some time to start thinking about/researching logistics.
Not sure if this would be better suited to the tax board, but thought I'd try here first.
