Hi all, quick question. I sent off my Tier 4 General Visa Application last week only to realize that I had forgotten to include a printout from Oanda.com converting my account balance from US dollars to UK Sterling. Is this grounds for a refusal of my application or is there a good chance they'll just email me asking for it in the coming weeks?

Any info would be appreciated.

I used my parents account for my first tier 4 back in 2912 and I don't remember including that in my application. I also didn't include one in my current tier 4 app when I relied on student loans to show I had enough money. TBH if you're American then you're considered low risk and they rarely even look at your financial info. In fact it's not even required that you send any at all, just required that you be prepared to send it if they ask for it.

Given that you don't even need to include your financial information with the application, I doubt it will be a problem. I've never heard of anyone including a currency conversion with their application before - it's not on the list of required documents.

All that is mentioned in the guidance for Tier 4 visas is the following:

Quote
165. If you are using overseas currency, we will expect you to show (in writing on your application form) the closing balance in pounds sterling. We use the official exchange rate on the OANDA website, which can be found at www.oanda.com/convert/classic.

166. Where your funds are in a currency other than pounds sterling, the amount we consider will be based on the exchange rate for the relevant currency on the date of your application, taken from the rates published on www.oanda.com.

Alright, thank you both, you've eased my worries a little and I'll just keep my eye out for any contact from them.
