KS to UK May 2016
« on: September 06, 2015, 05:13:28 PM »
Hello all! I'm Allison. My family is planning a move to England in May 2016. My husband is from London but has been in the U.S. for about 20 years. His elderly mother is still in London and we've decided it's time to be closer to her.

We've hired an attorney in the UK to handle all of our Visa and Immigration stuff. It's a bit expensive, but we really feel like it's been worth it so far. Since my husband legally adopted my daughter, we have all that to sort through too. The paperwork involved is bananas. And she will be 18 soon after our move, so we will eventually have University to sort out as well  :o
We're also taking our two dogs and have decided that hiring a pet relocation company is our best option. We really just want everything to go as smoothly as possible!!

So nice to see another Kansan on here!   My husband will be moving in Nov.  and I am staying here with my girls until May when kid #2 graduates High School.   She is overwhelmed trying to decide if she wants to move with us or stay Stateside for school.  My eldest will stay here and the two younger will definitely move with us!

So overwhelming!   Best of luck to you!

BTW, Where in Kansas are you?

Greetings fellow Kansans! I moved to the UK from KS in 2010 (married a Brit). I'm far, far north of London in the Lake District and love it here. I have, however, endured plenty of gentle ribbing in the form of 'Wizard of Oz' references upon first meeting people, but nothing too insufferable. I wish you both all the best on your moves!  :).
Life in the UK; from marriage and the big move in 2010 to becoming a citizen in 2014.

we must carry it with us or we find it not"
