Have you ever noticed how British people are always saying things like "America has no culture?" ...while wearing blue jeans and listening to music styles invented by Americans?

And people at work keep talking about "giving shout outs" to co-workers. And now they keep offering me Oreos. I love Oreos, but I'm starting to feel like I live in America, not the UK.

So I did this blog/rant:

Man, that's gotta sting!

I'm almost feeling sorry for my hosts after that brutal statement of reality.

We've got 5 BBQ rib places in my town now.  Guess what?  They all suck in one way or another for all the reasons laid out in that article.

One quick factoid:

Martin "Pottz" Potter (GBR) was world surfing champion in 1989, and is credited with pretty much inventing the aerial. He did, however, move to Durban, SA, when he was two years old.
I just hope that more people will ignore the fatalism of the argument that we are beyond repair. We are not beyond repair. We are never beyond repair. - AOC

Well, she was an American girl, raised on promises.
She couldn't help thinking that there was a little more to life, somewhere else.
After all it was a great big world, with lots of places to run to.
And if she had to die trying she had one little promise she was gonna keep.

No.

I have to agree. In my 6 1/2 years here, I've never heard that, but I do hear our culture always pretty much being associated with crazy fried foods and astronomical portions (I always have to explain to everyone that man v food is made for entertainment, and if food was like that normally then they wouldn't have a show)!

No.

I've not heard exactly, "America/USA has no culture", but I have heard, "You're in a cultured/civilised country now", and similar statements - both in person and on TV, albeit usually said in jest.
