Documents List (Needs Checking)
« on: October 18, 2016, 01:40:22 PM »
Hi everyone,

After tonnes of help from this forum, I think I have finally got my application and documents list together... If anyone has any input on anything I may have missed it would be much appreciated!

Application Forms;
-   Printed online visa application
-   Appendix 2
-   Biometrics confirmation form
-   Receipt of priority service
-   Return shipping details

Identification Documents;
-   Passport of the applicant
-   Two passport sized photos of the applicant
-   Confirmation of adoption and name change for the applicant
-   Certified Copy of sponsor's passport

Relationship Documents;
-   Printouts and screenshots of various communications
-   Flight bookings, confirmations and boarding passes of various trips made
-   Marriage certificate
-   Photos displaying time we have spent together including our wedding day

Finance Documents;
-   Original payslips covering six months prior
-   Certified original bank statements covering six month prior
-   A covering letter from my employer confirming details of employment and salary

Accommodation Documents;
-   Signed cover letter from my parents (the owners of the property)
-   Land registry documentation confirming ownership
-   A household bill for the address in the names of the owners.

Other Documents;
-   Flight itinerary for the proposed travel date

Hopefully I haven't missed anything!

Your list looks pretty good :).

A few notes:

- don't send more than 1 or 2 photos of you together... Maybe one from the wedding and one earlier in the relationship

- you can take out the household bill for the accommodation as it does not prove homeownership

- for the financial documents, I would also include the sponsor's original job contract and latest P60 (April 2016)... While not strictly a requirement, they can ask for them to be provided, so it's worth including them.

Thanks for the heads up - ill stick my contract and a copy for them to keep in with the bundle in that case.

Will it matter if I send more than 2 photos? I'd just rather be safe than sorry...

It won't, but the more you send, the more they have to wade through to get to the important stuff.

It's a tick box visa - they just have to tick a box to say you've sent at least 1 photo of you together (to show you have met in person at least once). Any more photos than this are not really relevant and likely won't have any effect on the decision.

The only time I would recommend sending more photos is if you don't have things like boarding passes to show you've spent time together in person and so the photos can be used as proof that you physically travelled to each other's countries.

I will remove the extra photos in that case, thank you so much! If anyone else has any input/recommendations it will all be greatly appreciated  :)

Two further questions I thought I would check before my submission..

1- Does it matter if my original contract states a salary below the financial requirement of £18,600?

2- I am salary based and therefore I received my monthly wages and payslip on the last working day of each month... at which point in time would I have to include Octobers payslip in my application? (for example if i theoretically submitted my application on November 1st, would I be expected to include Octobers payslip?

Maybe I'm over thinking things but I want to be 100% sure  ;D

The most recent bank statement/payslip must be dated within 28 days of the date the online application is submitted and paid for.

Thanks again, with the bank statements is it worth highlighting the transactions relating to pay?

Is that salary on your contract from when you started and you've since received a pay rise taking you over the £18,600?

If so, that should be addressed in the letter from your employer.   :)

Just to confirm, my contract of employment is the original contract from when I first started - my salary was somewhere around £15k as it was a few years ago... however in the letter from my employer they do state my current salary which is greater than £18.6k, should this be enough?

That's probably fine.

Does the employer letter state what date you started earning over £18,600? It is a requirement that the letter states this, so that UKVI can confirm, along with your payslips and bank statements, that you have been earning more than £18,600 for at least 6 months.

The employer letter must be dated within 28 days of the online application date and state ALL of the following:
1) Current employment and salary
2) Length of employment
3) Length of time earning current salary
4) Type of employment (permanent, temporary, full/part-time etc.)

The employment letter is dated 6/10/2016 so is with in the 28 days  :)

It also states my current salary, the type of employment, my employment start date and that "I have been earning a salary above 18,600 for the previous 6 months as shown on the payslips provided" - my employer likes to word things differently... will this be okay?

It will likely be fine... but I would ask if they could rewrite it and state, "Employee's current salary is £20,000 as of 02.01.2016.  Prior to that date, his/her salary was £19,250."
