Need a witness for my ballot - Inverness
« on: October 26, 2016, 10:13:44 AM »
So, in an effort to be as awkward as possible, Wisconsin requires absentee ballots to be witnessed by another US citizen.

I know there used to be one or two folks kicking about up here.  Anybody willing to meet up and sign my ballot?  There may be a free coffee/pint/dram in it.

Hiya... so you did get moved to Inverness then!   Hope it's all going well for you there.  (sorry I can't help with your ballot.)

Yup, been here 9 months already!  I can't overstate how positive the move has been.

Suppose I should update my profile, though. :)

Maybe send a PM to phatbeetle?  She travels for work quite a lot, but you might just catch her in town with some luck...

Thanks, I'll keep in mind, but hoping I can turn up somebody a bit more local.  If that doesn't pan out, I may take you up on it, though.  :)

Might try that, as well.  One of my coworkers has a friend who's American, and is going to text her, but I'm so anxious to make sure it gets there in time, I might just head for Dundee, if I don't hear from her in the next couple of days.

It's not even the Presidential campaign I'm so worried about; my one vote isn't going to make or break that.  But I desperately want our US Senator out of office, and that's where every vote is needed.

Just an update:

Got a message from my husband, out of the blue on Friday, to say that he'd met one of the neighbours, who happens to be American.  So, that's that sorted.

Husbands are damned handy sometimes.
