Can't find the stupid 'salad crispies' fried onions thingys for my green bean

casserole

i'm bummed, i really wanted them.

i have found a box of dried onions that look similar, without the yummy fried taste.  :(

any ideas how i can season them to taste closer to it?  I've thought of adding onion soup to the mix?

Are they just out of them, or can you not find them at all?

Can you maybe slice, bread and fry your own?  After frying, put them in the oven to crisp...low temp, for a couple/few hours?  I love those things and use them on a variety of different meals.

no they sell them here...i just can't find them in the city-not in the small-medium sized grocery stores.  (i scoured safeway today)

my manager's mom is going to see if she can find them for me out where she lvies.  :)

Did you try those ones they suggested at Tesco... also both cybercandy and skyco had them... I got them at cybercandy....

you can order them online from Tesco....if all else fails type in a search for: Danfood Onion Salad Crispies.... people say they are the same... I don't know though!

Aimiloo!! Do NOT under any circumstances use dried onions as a substitute!!! A friend of mine did that a couple years ago and it was horrible. Dried onions are MUCH MUCH STRONGER in flavor. Very concentrated!

PM me your address. I have a pot of them and since Vnice has some for our Thanksgiving (I'm going to her house) I'll send you the ones I bought!  ;D

You know what I used last year? Cheese and Onion crisps... It gave the beans the flavour I needed. :-)

Would these help? If so, have seen these at my local supermarket (s) and you would be able to pick some up in the morning if it's not too late, or head out to late night Tesco's tonight?

Down to the wire and my manager's mom comes through. She's gotten me 3 different kinds (new dawn, those are one of them!)
