For the last fifteen years my mother-in-law has been telling me the dangers of letting my children play with sticks.
Specifically, that if they fell while running with a stick in their mouth, they could really hurt themselves. Now since I grew up on a farm, where a freak accident would more likely involve losing your hand in a self-unloading wagon I always ignored this advise. Until last night when my goofy seven year old fell with a stick in her mouth
and ended up in casualty with a badly scraped and bruised mouth and throat. I have officially apologized to the MIL for ignoring her advise.
