Sometimes Grandma DOES know best.
« on: November 24, 2004, 07:47:13 PM »
For the last fifteen years my mother-in-law has been telling me the dangers of letting my children play with sticks.   ::)  Specifically, that if they fell while running with a stick in their mouth, they could really hurt themselves.  Now since I grew up on a farm, where a freak accident would more likely involve losing your hand in a self-unloading wagon I always ignored this advise.  Until last night when my goofy seven year old fell with a stick in her mouth :o and ended up in casualty with a badly scraped and bruised mouth and throat.  I have officially apologized to the MIL for ignoring her advise.   ;)

Oh wow! I hope she is ok. I always tell my kids no running with suckers in their mouths because it scares the crap out of me.
Hope your little one recovers quickly.

OMG, poor little girl. :( The thought of it makes me feel ill. :( When one of my daughers was 18 months, she'd hold a bottle in her mouth with her teeth. She ran and fell, and split her lip. There's a tiny scar yet 5 years later. Running with anything in the mouth is soooo not good.

Ice cream and ice lollies should help her throat feel better. She'll love that. ;)

Thanks.  She's feeling better, although it was pretty scary at the time.  I refused to look in her mouth because I was too afraid of seeing a gaping hole.  I still can't believe she did something so silly.   ::)

And we set an all time record for Casualty!  In and out in FORTY minutes.   :)

Aww...I'm glad she's ok and getting better. :)

You're like me...my kid gets hurt and I can't bear to look because of what I might see. I remember my youngest falling face first into a ceramic tile floor when he was about 18 months old and when I picked him up blood was pouring from his mouth and I just knew he'd knocked his teeth out and I couldn't even bring myself to look. I made my (then) husband look instead. :P

Oh and his teeth were all still there. ;)
